My top tips to avoid social media overwhelm...
Social media is meant to be fun, it's the place to build connections and communities. To show ourselves as well as our businesses and help the audience to establish relationships with us.
But right now, with so many additional and unexpected demands on our time, it can feel pretty overwhelming. It becomes just another task on the never-ending to do list. And your audience can feel it. If you're not feeling it, they can sniff out inauthenticity a mile off, they might not know how to describe it as such, but they will have 'a feeling'.
Here are my top tips to avoid social media overwhelm:
⚡ You don't have to be on ALL the channels, decide on your primary channel and focus your time, energy and attention there.
⚡ Have a content theme for each week or month (depending on how frequently you post), then you're not having to come up with entirely fresh content every day, you can talk about different areas of the same theme.
⚡ Plan, plan, plan - I can't stress this enough, planning your content in chunks in advance is going to save you so much time and energy in the long run.
⚡ Batch your time, break down your tasks into specific areas, having 'create Insta posts' on your to-do list is going to feel overwhelming and time consuming, leading to you putting it off. Instead, list out all the steps you take to create posts - content ideas / creating graphics / taking or curating photos / writing copy / scheduling and work through each step a batch of them at a time.
⚡ Repurpose your content - the only person who sees and reads every piece of your content is you - so repurpose your blog into several social posts, put the info into your newsletter and if you must be on more than one platform, share at least the themes across the posts.
⚡ Your time is precious, so look at who you're following, if their content is not bringing you joy right now, then either mute them or unfollow them.
